James Walsh, the frontman for Starsailor, was born in Chorley in June 1980. He is also the band's singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist. He is also probably as well known for his love of Liverpool Football Club.
He is in fact a fanatical supporter of Liverpool F.C. and used to play concerts for the other supporters and leave comments about the development of the team in his Myspace.
On one occasion James Walsh came onstage and thanked the Liverpool audience at the Kop Of The Pops event for accepting a man from Lancashire into the fold and with being born in Chorley and Starsailor claiming to be from Wigan, he most certainly is a woollyback.
However, as he is such a massive Liverpool fan and as he has supported the Hillsborough cause such a lot over the years, he is rightly looked upon as just another local hero.
When he did take the stage at the Kop Of The Pops event he played an acoustic solo set of Starsailor songs and then he led the rest of the performers in a version of Johnny Cash's Ring Of Fire, a huge Kop favourite, before sticking around to sing You'll Never Walk Alone and The Fields Of Anfield Road, a song which he has recorded a 'Sunday morning' version of which has been released on a charity single.
